Our Equipment

Following is a list of electronic equipment owned and used by Off Duty Security. Owned is the operative word because there are TSCM firms advertising gear they don’t actually have. We know this because they have attempted to rent ours. This is not a comprehensive list. There is more, some of which is proprietary and we don’t wish to advertise to the people who we hunt. We are very proud of the full spectrum of advanced electronic equipment we use because it is one of the things that sets us apart.

The relative order in which these pieces are listed is by an importance/cost ratio. It is also important to note that we keep our gear maintained, upgraded and calibrated. This list is ever changing and growing both qualitatively as well as quantitatively. It is critical for a professional sweep team to keep up with technology, which advances inexorably forward with or without us. TSCM is dynamic, not static. We either adapt to the latest technology of our enemies or our clients will suffer at their hands.

There are, in addition to these, a great many necessary items such as Fluke multimeters, extension pole mirrors, telescoping poles, metal detectors, sound sources, a telescope, digital & 35mm cameras, pole climbing gear, ladders, vacuum cleaners, high intensity lights, 2-way pagers for silent communication and a whole host of power and hand tools not very glamorous or high tech but absolutely necessary to do the job.

We have built redundancy into our equipment suite. Murphy’s Law is not absent from our business. With redundancy, if a piece quits on the job, there is a backup unit. Failure to establish back-up plans can be fatal. Also this duplicity allows the team member who finishes his assignments ahead of everyone else to pick up a redundant unit and assist another member.
