The _ equipment_ is very expensive. To that add the cost of maintenance, software and hardware upgrades and instrument calibration. It takes a lot of hands on training with all new and upgraded equipment to become proficient with it. Then there is the technology and informational update classes and associated training. There are one day and weekend seminars some of which are questionable, some beneficial and others which are crucial. There is the 8-24 hours we spend near your location prior to the actual sweep where you won’t even know we are there. In any industry, the going rate to rent electronics is 10% of its cost. If you wanted to rent all of our equipment to do your own sweep, it would run you about $25,000.00! An attorney charges about $50/hour. A good attorney would charge about $100/hour. An outstanding attorney would charge you $250/hour+. Do you have any idea how many attorneys there are in the Midwest for example? I am rated as the best in the Midwest and am one of only two professional TSCM techs in the state. Attorneys don’t have much capital outlay in equipment. I have $¼ million worth of equipment. Attorneys graduate from law school and start their practice. I can never stop advancing my education while technology races forward. Enough said?
