Do you need any
of the insurance you already have? Insurance is the only thing we pay
for, hoping never to get anything in return. It’s peace of mind,
a monkey off our backs, one less thing in our hectic lives to worry about,
and it can prevent catastrophe. If there is any personal or corporate
information worth protecting on your computer system, why wouldn’t
you also protect that same information when it is somewhere else? Would
you lock the front door of your house and leave the back door unlocked?
Infosec without comsec is a locked front door and an unlocked back door
on your privacy and secrets. Computer security does not equate to infosec.
Concerning infosec, if you don’t have anything worth protecting
then you probably shouldn’t spend any money on it. No one can steal
what you don’t have and no one wants to steal what is worthless.
For comsec, there is always the possibility, however, that there may be
a personal or emotional motive.
